60 Jahre IGdJ / 60th anniversary IGdJ

19–20 May 2026 at the Institute for the History of the German Jews

The IGdJ is taking its 60th anniversary as an opportunity to discuss Jewish history and culture in the context of new questions and methods, based on the Institute's current research profile. The individual sections take a legal history perspective on Jewish experiences of violence and the Holocaust, examine the profound influences of the past and present, address challenges in and for Digital Jewish History, and analyse the conditions of international migration movements as well as the formations and conflicts of multiple self-conceptions. The conference also addresses ongoing projects and discussions in Hamburg that have an impact beyond academia and into society at large.

Venue:

Institute for the History of the German Jews
