Interview with Jana Matthies M.A. at NDR broadcast Schabat Schalom
The memorial on Bornplatz, the creation of a museum dedicated to Hamburg’s Jewish history, and the city's visitor program for former Jewish residents - these topics are not only making headlines today, but were already the subject of debates in the 1980s and 1990s. At that time, the associations of former Hamburg residents spoke out from Israel. Their members and leaders had fled Nazi persecution in the 1930s and, fifty years later, had come together as former residents of Hamburg. Jana Matthies, M.A., is now presenting the first-ever individual study on a German-speaking association of former residents in Israel and discusses her book in an interview with Almuth Engelien on the NDR magazine program Schabat Schalom.
The book is published by Hentrich & Hentrich.
