Researching and teaching German-Jewish history in the graphic medium

In February, Dr. Stefanie Fischer (TU Berlin) and Dr. Kim Wünschmann presented their micro-historical study of the complex relationships between Jewish and non-Jewish members of a village society before, during and after the Shoah in New York and Washington DC. At the presentation of the Graphic History “Oberbrechen: A German Village Confronts Its Nazi Past” at the Leo Baeck Institute New York, which was moderated by visual artist and comics creator Ari Richter, was attended by members of Jewish families with roots in Oberbrechen. Fischer and Wünschmann discussed their book with students and researchers at the New School For Social Research, Georgetown University and American University.
A webinar on “Oberbrechen”, produced by Oxford University Press, is now available online and provides insights into researching and teaching German-Jewish history in the graphic medium.
